British Colombia's most wanted murderer arrested in Butte County - Action News Now - SAKAI BBS BLOG

OROVILLE, Calif. – Monday the Butte County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of British Columbia’s most wanted fugitive.

The Arrest was the culmination of an investigation that began on Nov. 29 when the United States Marshal’s office contacted the Butte County Sheriff’s Office with information that 28-year-old Brandon Texiera, who is wanted for homicide in Canada, maybe in the Oroville area, according to deputies.

The Sheriff’s office designated area deputies and detectives who immediately began assisting the U.S. Marshal’s office with the investigation. The Deputies said they soon determined that Texeira had been residing at a residence in the 100 block of Weedy Way in Oroville.

On Nov. 30, Sheriff’s obtained a search warrant for the Weedy Way Residence and began conducting on-going surveillance. On the morning of Dec 1, The Butte County Swat team, Butte County Detectives, U.S. Marshals, and members of the Chico Police department and Tehama County’s Swat teams served the search warrant.  

Texeira and a male later identified as 30-year-old Jeff Guerrier, of New York, exited the residence after several minutes and refusing to comply with the Sheriff’s Office orders, got into a vehicle on the property in an attempt to escape, deputies said.

The suspect then tried to escape by ramming his vehicle into multiple Butte County Sherriff’s Office vehicles. The Sherriff’s office then used another armored vehicle to disable the vehicle Texeira was in, at this time he exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot.

Butte County Sheriff’s were, however, able to take Texeira into custody using a K-9 unit.

U.S. Marshal’s have now taken custody of Texeira pending extradition hearings, deputies said. 

During the service of the search warrant, Butte County personnel located approximately 26 pounds of heroin, over 1,000 OxyContin and Percocet pills, and an estimated 40 pounds of Marijuana. The Butte County Interagency Narcotics Task Force was called in to collect the narcotics. 

Teixeira’s accomplice Guerrier has been booked on the following charges: Harboring and concealing a wanted felon, possession of heroin for sale, and possession of marijuana for sale. Detectives are conducting a follow-up on the narcotics investigation. 

Both the Butte County Sheriff’s Office and the Butte Interagency Narcotics task Force will be cooperating with the Butte County District Attorney’s office and the U.S. Marshal’s office regarding any local, state, and federal charges against Texeira.
